I started writing the song after a long break from music and feeling like I’d lost a sense of direction. I was looking back at the previous years thinking about what I would say to myself if I could go back in time. What would my message be. The song grew from there and I just started jamming around on my guitar and playing with lyrics, and so it became a message of self belief, courage, and self discovery.
I like to think of the fire as courage and the gold as beauty, something we all have within us but it’s not always easy to see in yourself.
I hope you enjoy the song!
